Roger Duguay, Leader, New Brunswick New Democratic Party
May 23, 2008
When it comes to the safety and well-being of the people, it’s better for the government to err on the side of caution.
On the question of uranium exploration and mining in New Brunswick, the risks far out-weigh the benefits.
Much of our province’s population depends on well water and the rest is supplied by lakes fed by watersheds. To place the health of our citizens below the expectations of profits by large corporations is simply wrong.
The New Brunswick New Democratic Party demands that the Graham government follow the lead of B.C. and Nova Scotia and impose a moratorium on uranium exploration and mining in our province.
It’s the right thing to do.
