The firing of Linda Keen, President of the Nuclear Safety Commission, should give us pause to ask “why?”
What is going on behind the scenes that the head of the monitoring and safety issues in the nuclear industry is kicked out?
We know the President of Atomic Energy Canada Ltd, (AECL) quit a month ago, just as these safety issues around 50-year-old Chalk River, were surfacing. He obviously was not doing his job, having been instructed
more than two years ago to have installed certain security equipment at Chalk River.
We know that Linda Keen, though, was doing her job — making sure this highly dangerous industry, and in particular the nuclear reactor at Chalk River, was safe.
What is going on there?
